King James Classic Draws 465 High School Teams To Akron

AKRON, Ohio -- It's a big weekend for basketball in the Akron-Canton area, with LeBron's King James Classic in town for its second annual tournament.
The Cavs star will be out of town for Game 3 against the Wizards, but his name is stamped all over the area.
Last year, the inaugural King James Classic drew 320 teams. This year there is a 50 percent increase with 465 teams, and some of the best high school players in the country are in town for the tourney.
Some of the players attending include Delron Roe, who will be going to Michigan State, and Anthony Cravens and William Buford, who are headed to Ohio State.
Some of the other players include South Carolina's Lashay Page, who is mostly being recruited by schools in the South.
The NCAA only allows coaches to look at high school players a certain number of days per year, so when a tournament like the King James Classic takes place, coaches attend.
The games start at 6 p.m. Friday.
With so many teams in town this weekend, the families of players are here as well. Roughly 7,000 people are staying in the area, and that means a significant economic impact.
